Enhancing Community in the Online Modality

In this micro-course, we’ll focus on a few of the most successful strategies. You’ll begin by considering the existing strength of community in your online modality and asking students what they think about the community. Then you’ll develop plans for team-building activities and individual expression and sharing in group discussions. You’ll prepare to give asset-based feedback in a variety of formats. Next, you’ll implement what you’ve learned and submit artifacts documenting your progress. Finally, you’ll evaluate what you’ve learned and lead the way by sharing with your colleagues.

Learning Targets:

  • Lead online team-building activities that provide members of the community time to get to know and trust one another.
  • Provide opportunities for individual students to express themselves.
